Union Graduate inducted as new church plant pastor in Chester

An update on the church planting work in Chester pastored by Deiniol Williams, a graduate of Union School of Theology's MTh programme.

The launch of Trinity Church Chester was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but Deiniol and his wife continued to pray for the city, and for the Lord to guide them into the right place. As restrictions eased, the Welsh Presbyterian Church, which holds Welsh-speaking services, graciously allowed Trinity Church to gather in its building in the historic city centre of Chester.

Trinity Church launched public worship services on 5th September 2021 and welcomed a congregation of 27 people, some of whom were passers-by who popped in to "say a prayer" and stayed to listen to the last ten minutes of the service. It was an encouragement for the church to see new people come, even from Day One.

On 30th September, Deiniol was inducted to pastor Trinity Church as a minister of the International Presbyterian Church, and Eryl Davies, former Provost of Union School of Theology (formerly ETCW) preached about the importance of prayer in ministry and in the life of the pastor.

Please continue to pray for Deiniol and Trinity church:

  • For those interested in coming along to services to come, particularly in these early months

  • For new connections to be made and for wisdom in how to seek them

  • For wisdom in caring for Christians who come along

  • For wisdom in shaping the ministry of the church

  • For fundraising efforts for 2022-23 and beyond

  • For longer term use of this/another building
