Residency: Mercyview Church, Tulsa
Mercyview Church in Tulsa, OK invites you to consider joining one of our training programs. We have 2 residencies (pastoral & church planting).
Each program can be done in conjunction with studying for the GDip and/or MTh with Union School of Theology in Tulsa, OK. Mercyview desires to walk alongside those whom the Lord is calling to serve His church. That calling is a high and demanding one, and Mercyview’s desire is that you and the churches you go on to plant or lead are thriving Gospel communities. These are true residencies in which the participant steps into the life of Mercyview and walks through an intentional process of learning, coaching, growing, practicing, leading, and serving. Becoming the leader Christ uses doesn’t happen overnight, and so, while the length of each residency is determined on a case by case basis, they typically last 3-5 years.
Mercyview Church Planting Residency: The main goal of our church planting residency program is to see churches planted to the glory of God and for his Kingdom. Mercyview desires to be a hub for multiplication of missional, Gospel-centered, Christ exalting local churches. Participants will receive a realistic experience of life and ministry in a church planting church while preparing to plant a church themselves. Residents will receive assessment, training, and ongoing coaching through Mercyview and associated networks while recruiting, fundraising, and developing strategy for the future plant.
Applicants should demonstrate a calling or committed to a significant exploration of the calling to be the lead planter of a church and have proven ministry experience.
Pastoral Residency: Pastoral ministry is an important aspect of the work of God in His Kingdom. Gospel-centered, Spirit-led, missional pastoral leadership is imperative for God’s church, thus the intentional training of those who feel a calling to vocational ministry should be an important aspect of fulfilling the work and mission of Christ in the world. The pastoral residency program is designed to cultivate ministry formation in the most appropriate context for developing pastoral competencies—the church itself. For many, this initiative could lead to opportunities to join the Mercyview pastoral staff but it could also be preparation to pastor a church outside of Mercyview. on a case-by-case basis.
